The accreditation process
To become accredited by ACICS, a college must invest significant amounts of time and resources. This is an investment that pays dividends for our students; they know that their credentials meet the high standards of this national accrediting agency.
The process involves many steps:
- Completing an application
- Preparing an annual institutional report
- Hosting an initial resource visit from an ACICS staff member
- Conducting an application and self-study
- Participating in accreditation training
- Undergoing an evaluation site visit
- Preparing the team report
This process can take many weeks or months. And it is not over when ACICS awards initial accreditation. To maintain their accredited status, colleges and universities must periodically reapply and undergo similar review processes. And colleges may be required by ACICS at any time to modify programs and policies to meet its standards.
