Stephen Ivancic, Ed.D.

Stephen Ivancic

Education:

  • Ed.D. University of Minnesota Twin Cities
  • M.Ed.-Education, University of Minnesota Twin Cities
  • B.A.- Education, University of Minnesota Twin Cities

“I began my career teaching English, math and physics at a small high school in South Dakota. I then worked at two different Minnesota colleges as an instructor, department chair, program director and Dean of Academic and Student Services. Before my experiences in education, I was a floral designer, animal lab technician and steelworker, where I operated dual overhead cranes in the taconite mining industry of northern Minnesota.

One fact people may not know about me is that I adopt all my pets from animal shelters or humane societies.”

Emily Elsner Twesme

Emily Elsner Twesme

Education:

  • M.A.-English, UW-Eau Claire
  • B.A.-English, University of Minnesota Morris

“Working at Globe here in Eau Claire is GREAT – the students come from all walks of life and are excited and eager to learn. They are participatory and fun to learn from, as well as instruct. Prior work experience for me includes the civic/activism realm – I spent several years in Washington DC working for Incenter Strategies (The National Alliance to Advance Adolescent’s Health), as well as working with the city of Morris to build visibility and recognition for small towns.

An interesting fact about me – I am easily persuaded by chocolate and my birthday is on Christmas.”

Christine Varnavas

Education:

  • M.S., Training & Development – UW-Stout
  • B.S., Marketing Education – UW-Stout
  • A.A.S., Hospitality Management – Madison Area Technical College

“I spent over ten years with UW-Stout, working and teaching in student programs such as TRIO and writing grants for student disability resources. I have several publications within these two areas, as well in training for hospitality and tourism (as a result of my first degree).

In addition to my background in post-secondary education, I also am a Karma yoga and spin instructor. This summer I am leading a group of women on a yoga retreat to Greece.”

Gary Wheeler

Education:

  • B.A., Mathematics – UW Eau Claire

“I have been working with students and teaching in some capacity for three years. My experience here at Globe allows me the opportunity to work with dedicated students who manage an active lifestyle, family and job while completing a degree. The motivation of my classes inspires me as well.

One thing that you may not know about me is that I am an Eagle Scout.”
