The agriculture business is much more than farming and ranching. Although these endeavors are part of this important economic sector, there are many other opportunities in the field. Careers for people in the agriculture business

With a degree in business management: agriculture, you will have many options. You will be prepared for positions in human resources, sales, consulting, management or purchasing—all in the agriculture sector. Examples include the following:

  • Manager of a farm or ranch
  • Owner or manager of a farm equipment dealership
  • Manager of a farm labor agency
  • Agricultural business consultant
  • Marketer of agricultural commodities
  • Sales rep for fertilizer, seeds and other agricultural supplies
  • Purchaser of agricultural products or services in small or large companies

Graduates of this bachelor’s degree program will have both business knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge to the agricultural sector. They will be able to take advantage of new opportunities in the field because of their training.

Coursework for the agriculture business emphasis

Students take basic business and general education courses in the first few quarters of the program. During the last half of the degree program, they complete agriculture business courses the cover topics such as these:

  • Agricultural finance
  • Cooperatives
  • Agricultural markets and pricing
  • Commodities, futures, options
  • International business
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Agricultural management

They also complete business electives and can finish the program in three years if they study full-time. Graduates will have specialized knowledge and communication and problem-solving skills. They will be able to apply their general business training to specific situations within the agriculture field.

Need flexiblity? Study agriculture business online

Students can complete the agriculture business emphasis in our business management program through the Globe University online division. They can also combine online courses with courses at our Eau Claire campus. They can even take hybrid courses—courses that meet online and on-campus; the instructor sets the schedule. Students can also complete degree requirements at another Globe University college or study part-time.
