Education for careers in the health care industry

Our college awards the following degrees and diplomas in the health sciences:

  • Health Care Management (BS). Students prepare for management and administration in the health care industry.
  • Medical Assistant (AAS degree and diploma). Graduates are ready to become medical assistants in clinics and other medical settings. They are also prepared to sit for national certification exams.
  • Medical Administrative Assistant (AAS degree and diploma). Graduates are ready for administrative positions in medical settings such as clinics, hospitals, public health agencies and the military.
  • Massage Therapy (AAS degree and diploma). Students prepare for positions in massage clinics, wellness centers, spas and physical therapy centers.
  • Veterinary Technology (AAS degree). Graduates find rewarding positions as entry-level technicians in organizations such as small animal hospitals, equine practices and mobile vet services.

Each of these programs prepares students for rewarding careers in the health care industry and related fields. Because we develop and review our degrees and diplomas with the help of health care professionals, students can be confident that they are learning the skills and acquiring the knowledge they need for today’s jobs.

Certification in your field—more than a degree or diploma

Students and graduates may be eligible to take certification exams in their fields. Medical assistant students take a CMA review class that prepares them for the Certified Medical Assistant certification exam. They also take a radiology course that prepares them for the Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology exam that can lead to certification by the American Registry of Radiographic Technicians (ARRT). Massage therapy graduates are eligible to take the NCETM certification exam offered by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, They may also be able to take the MBLEx licensing exam offered by the Federation of States Massage Therapy Board.

Certifications such as these tell prospective employers that you are serious about your career and that you meet nationally recognized standards of practice and patient care. Offering preparation for certification exams is one of the hallmarks of our health science programs.

Hands-on training makes us different

Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities and labs that replicate what they will find when they begin working in the health care industry. They gain hands-on experience through practice during classes and their externships. Because of our practical focus, students have extensive experience when they graduate—experience that sets them apart.
