Medical assistants are on the front lines of patient care. They are often the first and last person a patient sees. They have extensive patient contact and play an essential role on health care teams. A career as a medical assistant is rewarding and fulfilling.
At Globe University-Eau Claire, we offer two programs in medical assistant. Students earn associate degrees or diplomas and are eligible to sit for exams that can lead to valuable certifications. They are ready for positions in clinics, doctor’s offices and public health agencies.

Our medical assistant programs
Students can choose between the technical diploma and the AAS degree at our Eau Claire college:
Associate in Applied Science in Medical Assistant. This degree program can be completed in 21 months of full-time study. Students are prepared for certification exams such as the CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) and the ARRT (American Registry of Radiographic Technicians). Students who prepare for these exams are eligible for a Professional Certification Scholarship to defray the cost of exam fees.
Diploma in Medical Assistant. Students who complete this diploma program are able to enter the workforce quickly, finishing their coursework in 15 months of full-time study. Like students in the AAS program, they are prepared to take the CMA and the ARRT certification exams.
Practical training is key to student success
Students in both programs complete clinical training and have many opportunities to practice their skills before entering the job market. And even before they start their clinical training, they are able to study in our state-of-the art labs that mirror what they will find once they are on the job. When they complete their programs, they have accumulated many hours of hands-on experience. They are ready for employment and need very little on-the-job training.
